The Faller car system - apparently easy but also ingenious! Vehicles move through prepared streets as if guided by an invisible hand!

As in the real thing, vehicles are equipped with an engine, a steering unit and a 'fuel' system - the battery. You could think of this as the model world's first model automotive application of 'green' technology. Each vehicle has an on/off switch on the underside of the vehicle as well as a second micro switch that reacts to magnetic power - called a 'reed' contact.

After the power being turned on from the attached battery, the cars are able to be driven independently, without power from outside the vehicle. Steering is achieved by means of a steering part afixed to the front axle and pointed towards the front of the vehicle. This steering part is equipped with a small but very effective permanent magnet at its tip. The magnet reacts to a special wire that is inserted into the roadway. This keeps the vehicle on track. The only function of the magnet is to control the position of the vehicle on the roadway.

Traffic systems.

Traffic systems offer many possibilities but do require some planning. There are stop units available for stopping at red lights, railway crossings and stations and consist of electromagnets inserted into the street. When power is applied to the stop unit, it turns of the engine in the vehicle through the reed contact built into the vehicle.

Additionally, there are junctions available for optional right or left turning. Junctions consist of an electro inductor which, When it is activate, leads the guiding magnet away from the straight line to a separate contact line. Simple but sophisticated!
